Have a Unique Wedding: Alternative Decorations for Your Big Day
When it’s our wedding day, we want the day (and ourselves) to stand out. After all, it’s a most special occasion. Therefore, what’s the harm in ensuring every minute detail is perfect and completely reflects you and your husband’s personalities? Planning a wedding can be stressful, however, we have a few tips that make sure you fully enjoy your special day.
Whether you’ve got a huge budget or you’re hoping to save some money for the honeymoon, there are many ways (expensive or not) to handle the decoration of your wedding venue and reception. Keep it unique and keep it personal; here’s how you can have a unique wedding.
Save the Dates and Invitations
Both are important, and although some would argue that it’s only a slip of paper with the date and time, sending out quirky and beautiful save the dates and invitations will make your day seem more inviting. You want your friends and family to be excited about your wedding, and so, pretty and beautifully crafted wedding invitations will get them talking and planning for your big day.
Save the dates do not have to cost a fortune, and they can be completely homemade. Make sure they reflect the both of you, the theme of your wedding (if there is one), and that you’re completely proud of your designs. Follow the same rule when it comes to your wedding invitations.
Flower Bouquets
Your flowers must, of course, reflect the rest of your wedding. Most people will have a theme, whether it’s simply following a color scheme or inspired by their favorite movie or book series. Flowers will also have to fit in with the seasons; so, if you love sunflowers, they wouldn’t necessarily fit in with a fall or winter wedding.
Flower bouquets do not even have to be actual flowers. Instead, you could opt for paper flowers, made from either your favorite book or paper doilies. Craft the paper into any shape, style or size; you can even paint them with a mixture of colors and add beading. You could even scrap the bouquet all together and have wrist corsages or even consider lanterns.
Table Arrangements
Again, table arrangements must match your overall theme. However, aside from that, the world is your oyster. You can have large or small flower arrangements in small wooden crates; candles in various jars or holders, or tree stumps showcasing vases of floral arrangements. If it’s fall, incorporate gourds. You can hollow them out and use them as a vase for bright orange and yellow flowers.
For table markers, consider wine bottles painted in blackboard paint with the numbers written on by chalk, or if you’re wanting something more minimalistic, fold a thick piece of brown paper and stamp the table number on either side. Include an elegant but simple border and you’ve got something charming and delicate. Place a disposable or polaroid camera at each table and have a string with clips; this is so your guests can hang their photos for everyone to see, and for you to keep.
Cake Toppers
There’s an abundance of cake toppers for you to choose from. Either have the traditional bride and groom figurines, yours and your partner’s name written in large cursive writing, or have something completely quirky like wooden toppers in the shape of birds or your favorite animals.
