Trend check your wardrobe

Trends come and go, and so do dresses, skirts, trousers and shoes. So before a new season is about to start it is vital that you do a quick check on your wardrobe. And as only a small minority of women have a wardrobe that fits everything, most of us must decide which pieces stay, which pieces need to be removed and which new pieces are most likely to freshen up your wardrobe.

Let’s get started with the major dress trends. There is a huge variety available, but maybe it is better to decide for one or two trends to follow this summer and not to buy everything all at once. Remember, less is (sometimes) more. For example, foot-length maxi dresses in a ‘70’s Boho-style’ have been in trend for years now and they could definitely do with a break. Simply store them in the back of your cupboard and come back to them next summer.

Now we have created some extra space in our wardrobe for 50’s style prom dresses. These dresses freshen up your wardrobe and make you feel like a princess this summer – looking as sweet as candy. During the day they can easily be combined with flat summer sandals, but at night you should definitely unpack your sexy high heels. And then there are the sheath dresses that come in a figure-hugging silhouette and have mostly a defined waist, with or without a belt or a waistband. These dresses are suitable for almost every occasion and are perfectly in line with the current 50’s style fashion trend. Moreover, the sheath dresses are available in many different styles.

There are elegant ones that come in sophisticated colours like navy blue or black, there are work dresses that incorporate beautiful floral prints, there are the all-rounder dresses that work both in the office and in social life and finally there are those wonderful vintage dresses that make you feel that little bit more special and individual.

When it comes to vintage, designers take their inspirations from everywhere; be it different countries, cultures, flea markets or textile fairs. The fabulous lifestyles of fashion cities such as London, Milan or Paris are incorporated in the design of these dresses – taking you back to an imaginary time in the past where fashion ruled the world.
