When you hear the words thermal clothing, what immediately comes to mind are images of thick, wooly sweaters and frumpy frocks. These are the totally unflattering pieces of clothing which keep you warm on those chilly nights out in the park.
Other than putting on layers of clothing to keep you warm, you have the option of getting yourself some thermal underwear. More than anything, you’d want to keep your privates nice and warm in intensely cold weather. Selecting thermal underwear can be quite a daunting task, though. So, what are the things you must consider when buying thermal underwear?
Decide on how thick you need your thermal underwear to be. You’ll need much thicker underwear if you’ll be staying in colder temperatures and engaging in less physical activity. Choose from the lightweight variety for moderate temperatures to what’s called expedition weight for extreme cold temperatures.
Choose “wicking” underwear. This has material which spreads out moisture and dries quickly. Also consider the odor retention factor of thermal underwear. Try to steer clear of polypropylene as this tends to stink.
Make sure the thermal underwear material you decide to buy is easy to care for. Meaning, it’s safe to wash and dry in the machine.
Always keep in mind that just because a piece of thermal underwear is more expensive, that doesn’t mean it is of good quality. Price is not always in direct proportion to quality. A true fashionista would be wise in making purchases and would first ask around for recommendations.
