Denims are timeless fashion pieces that have become a staple in most people’s closet. A light and softer version of the denim, known as the Chambray, has gone in and out of the fashion trends over the years. This 2013, designer brands have paved the way for the return of the Chambray in the runways and in their racks.
It is quite common for denim brands like Guess, Levis, Lee, and Wrangler to have a couple of chambray shirts in their line, but 2013 will show that there are plenty of ways to wear chambray from the likes of Derek Lam, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Anna Sui, Victoria Beckham, and other top designer brands.
Those who prefer classic cuts and designs can check out the no fuss long sleeved chambray shirt from DKNY or the usual shirt in mid-blue shade from Burberry Brit.
There are also modern takes on the classic long sleeve shirt like Ralph Lauren’s Chambray Lace Utility Shirt that features a sheer floral lace panel along the back yoke, giving it a dainty and feminine contrast to the work shirt.
The Olsen twins’ Elizabeth and James brand also incorporated sheer fabric with chambray in their Tucker Shirt which is another modern and stylish way to wear the classic shirt.
Aside from the classic long sleeves, there are also short sleeves and sleeveless versions of the shirt along with some quirky and whimsical styles like those offered by fashion retailer Forever 21. One can find cut-out shirts, self-tie shirts, and printed ones with polka dots, anchor, etc.
Chambrays aren’t only good for tops they also make great dresses, skirts and bottoms too. Anna Sui, Derek Lam, Shona Joy, and Matthew Williamson have some nice looking designs that are perfect for casual strolls or a weekend at work.
Celebrities have also been spotted wearing their designer chambrays. Pretty little liars star Shay Mitchell looked hot and cool at the same time in a chambray jumper dress from the Derek Lam for Kohls Collection.
With the market’s response warming-up to the Chambray, we can expect designer labels making more room for them in their stores.
