If you are anything like me you find it all but impossible to do your Christmas shopping and not buy anything for yourself. For example, you are in your favorite designer purse store buying your mother the purse she has been wanting all season and you spot a clutch you simply must have. So, you walk out of the store spending twice as much as you planned on when you walked in. This is obviously a problem when money is a bit tight. However, there are ways to buy both without spending a small fortune.
First, do you use any credit cards that offer points or rewards, if so the holidays are a perfect time to trade them in. You may even find a gift card with those points for that purse store. If you are in a really good rewards program, you may be getting cash back, which means the skies the limit in terms of where you can shop. Next, seek out coupons. It might be in your head that designer stores don’t have coupons, but this is so not true. Everyone is trying to make money, and doing whatever possible to rope in customers, which means designer stores and small boutiques just might have their own coupons. Finally, look for sales. Sales such as buy one, get one are becoming increasing popular. Additionally, if you aren’t afraid of a shopping crowd, which most shopping divas are not, shop on black Friday to find some of the best sales out there.
It is possible to walk out of that store with both purses; you just have to be smart about how you buy. If you are really thrifty you can probably even throw in a wallet for mom, or maybe you.
