When traveling together as a family, the biggest key to success is keeping everybody content. A family vacation should entertain the kids while providing plenty of downtime for mom and dad. In the interest of fabulously fun family getaways for all, we are pleased to present a few worthwhile tips and tricks about how to find a perfect hotel with all the amenities.
First, decide on a destination
Kids who are old enough to talk may be consulted before choosing a vacation destination. Of course, chances are they will clamor to be taken to a noisy theme park or another such kid-centric locale. If mom and dad are up for riding rides and eating amusement park fare all day, a trip to Disneyland could be ideal. If parentals are more inclined toward science and nature, visit a city that offers a nice amalgam of amusement and culture.

Always insist on queen size or bigger beds. When traveling as a family, bed sharing may be the norm, not the exception. Make sure everyone has enough sleeping space to get a great night’s rest. If bed size is not apparent when you make reservations, ask. If a hotel offers only double and single beds, switch hotels, recommends Family Trips magazine.
Free WiFi is another must-have amenity for families who travel together. Although you will want to spend more time offline so you can enjoy one another’s company, there will be moments when each family member may wish to check their social media and answer e-mails. Per-minute rates add up in a hurry, especially when parents and teens are all online at once. Eliminate surprises at checkout when you opt for no-charge, all-you-can-use hotel internet service.
One more amenity a family cannot do without is an on-site laundry facility. If one or more launderettes are situated on each floor, all the better. Pack lightly and toss soiled clothing into a hotel washer and dryer as needed.
Little luxuries to look for
When a hotel such as the Marriott Conference Center Hotel provides a yummy family breakfast, every day begins the right way. Linger over eggs and toast or a pile of syrupy waffles as you peruse the local paper for things to do and see that day.

If you have the wherewithal to take a totally upscale vacay, look for a resort that offers a kid-friendly concierge, bedtime stories, play clubs, and an on-site arcade. Kids clubs, tennis clinics, and arts and crafts sessions give children fun things to do while dad golfs and mom enjoys an afternoon at the spa. Visit a property that offers plentiful kiddie amusements, and you can pack far fewer toys, advises TravelSort magazine.
When you travel with older teens, let them do some of the driving, and don’t expect older siblings to be constant babysitters. Many nice hotels offer on-site nanny service to supervise the littlest family members. Plan well, pack lightly, and make a few fine family memories.
